In the mid of 90's the Two stroke market struggled a lot in India because of its smoke emission, none of the two stroke engine considered as a environment friendly. So Indian government decide to gradually decrease the two engine motorcycle production. At that time Hero-Honda introduced a lovely four stroke bike called Splendor and it took the whole market from Yamaha.
After few years later Yamaha launched two new concept bikes which was never experience by Indians. Yes, We can call R-15 and FZ-16 as a Rebirth of Yamaha in India. Now these are the most selling bikes in India among youths because of its power and handling with four stroke engine.
After a success of R-15 and FZ-16 Yamaha planned to occupy a place in commuter (family bike) segment, So it launched SZ series. The SZ series will come with 153CC and 12.1PS/7500rpm engine. This engine is inherited from FZ-16's engine.
