Bike Maintenance & Safety Tips

This is a first post from Bikesupport team, so it must be more informative and meaningful for the readers. OK at last you got your dream bike by convincing your Parents or by compromising certain things like mileage, cost etc,. But bike maintain plays an most important role in your Bike's life. Yes, your bike's mileage, braking, pickup and everything resides on it.

Lets discuss about simple tips which will really help you to keep your bike in perfect condition. Because "Bike in perfect condition will give you confident driving".

Tips:
  • While starting the bike first time in the morning, keep the engine to run for few seconds in 1000 to 1500 RPM. (It provides long engine life, so make it as a habit).
  • Check the RPM level immediately after starting the engine. Adjust the RPM to read 1200 to 1500, this is sufficient for moving the Bike from ideal position. Once you drove the bike for few kms the RPM will automatically adjusted to 2000 or 2500, So reduce the RPM back to 1200 at that stage.
  • If your Bike has electric start option then try to switch off the engine at traffic signals (It takes only 1 second to start the engine back if you have electric start)
  • Regularly wash your bike in proper intervals using branded Bike wash liquids available in  almost all service stations. (It will fetch others attraction on your bike and also your bike will always stay young)
  • Use side stand if really necessary, Always use center stand. (If we use side stand the mileage indicator will show wrong figure for few minutes.)
  • Check your front and rear bulbs regularly. (Rear bulb will provide you an extra safety at night drives)
  • Avoid over speeding in city limits and wear a ISI certified helmets. (Don't go for cheap and fancy/trendy helmets).
  • Do not assume anything while you overtake. Overtake only if there is an clear path (There must be no opposite traffic).
  • Don't buy/use Chinese products like HID bulbs/Horn-Cutouts they may be good to see but they will eat your battery's life. Go for brands like Phillips etc,.
  • And here comes the most important point, Be careful with auto rickshaw guys, they mostly turn their vehicle without a warning/indicators :-)

  2. At this time, it seems like Word Press is the preferred blogging platform available right now. (from what I’ve read) Is that what you’re using on your blog? Great post, however, I was wondering if you could write a little more on this subject?
